What does tree removal actually cost in the Redlands?

12 June 2026

The most common question we get is "how much to take that tree out?" The honest answer is: it depends, but it's not a mystery. Once you know the handful of factors that drive every quote, the numbers make sense, and you can spot both the quote that's too good to be true and the one having a lend of you.

The factors that set the price

  • Size: height, trunk diameter and canopy spread decide how much wood has to come down and how many hours it takes
  • Species: a soft, light wattle cuts and chips fast. Dense hardwood gums are slower on every cut and heavier on every lift. Palms are their own category
  • Access: can a truck and chipper park next to the tree, or does every piece travel through a side gate by hand?
  • What's underneath: a tree over lawn can be dropped in sections. A tree over the house, pool or shed has to be rigged and lowered piece by piece, which is skilled, slower work
  • Extras: stump grinding, timber removal versus leaving firewood, mulch kept or carted, and any powerline or neighbour complications

Rough shapes, honestly given

Every yard is different, so treat these as shapes rather than promises. A small ornamental or a single palm is typically a few hundred dollars. A mid-sized tree with decent access commonly lands somewhere in the high hundreds to low thousands. A large gum requiring full rigging over structures is a serious day or two of crew, gear and truckloads, and quotes in the multiple thousands reflect the reality of that work. If someone quotes a big technical removal at small-tree money, something in the job is being skipped, and it's usually insurance, cleanup or care.

Why quotes for the same tree differ

Two quotes on the same tree can honestly differ because the plans differ: one crew has a bigger chipper, another climbs it over two days. But wide gaps usually come down to inclusions. Check every quote for the same four things: stump, timber, green waste, and cleanup. A cheap quote that leaves the stump and a mountain of logs isn't cheap once you price fixing that.

How to get an accurate number fast

You don't need a site visit to get a realistic range. Send us two photos (the whole tree, and the access to it) plus your suburb, and we'll come back with a genuine range the same day. Every SEQ Tree Experts quote is free, written and fixed before we start, so the number you accept is the number you pay. No surprises is the whole point.
